The back storyAt a Rochester Amerks hockey game in March of 2012, a local investment adviser purchased a domain name, NumbersWithEnemies.com, after joking with some friends about a popular word game that had become the nation's obsession. At the time, he had absolutely no idea what he was going to actually do with it.
On the drive home, he remembered a book he had read about bond traders on Wall Street in the 1980s and a game they used to play, liar's poker (Liar's Poker by Michael Lewis). Why not build a modern day version of the classic game, liar's poker, for the iPhone? Despite zero experience in the world of app or game development, Burkey leveraged his relationship skills and courage – honed in the trenches of financial markets – to assemble a strong team and bring the idea to life. An idea that started with an iPhone and a $10 domain name at a hockey game. This is the birth of Numbers with Enemies – a legendary Wall Street game – brought to life by one of the financial world’s own despite all the odds.
